In a single day you can explore the urban streets of Denver, CO, and admire the towering steel buildings downtown before traversing mountainous nature trails and catching picturesque views. June in Denver is jam packed with events and commemorations rich in history and heritage. Break out your best “Opa!” while listening to live music and tasting authentic homemade treats at the Greek Festival being held from June 15th – 17th. Denver PrideFest, one of the top ten LGBT pride events in the country, will be celebrating its 37th anniversary from June 16th to 17th and will showcase 250 vendor booths, a variety of cultural performances and a lively parade.
It was on June 19th, 1865, when slavery was ended in the U.S.; and, it’s commemorated each year around the country on the same day now known as Juneteenth. Stop by Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood and learn about African-American history, taste local cuisine and take in performances and artwork. Celebrate the centennial of the gifting of cherry blossom trees to the U.S. by Japan during the city’s Cherry Blossom Festival from June 23rd – 24th. This annual event showcases Japanese culture through dance, taiko drums and martial arts.
If you decide to make your way to the Mile High City this month, consider staying at a Denver bed and breakfast. Whether you prefer something more irreverent or traditional, you can find it there.
