Located right in the middle of the historic downtown, this quaint Cedarburg WI bed and breakfast can’t wait to welcome you with open arms — and, of course, freshly prepared breakfast

Located in south-eastern Wisconsin, Cedarburg has a prime location: it’s only 20 miles away from Milwaukee, and only two hours north of Chicago. The city is famous for its well-preserved downtown, and was even voted by Architectural Digest to have one of the Most Beautiful Main Streets in America. Walk along this main street, Washington Avenue, and you’ll see plenty of mouth-watering restaurants, enticing antique stores, art galleries, and boutique shops. Cedarburg is especially well-known for its boutique stores, where shopkeepers know each of their customers by heart and are genuinely excited to help them pick out their next outfit or souvenirs for friends back home.

The Perfect Year ‘Round Destination

Cedarburg is the perfect destination to visit any time of the year thanks to its variety of fun festivals: be enthralled by the festive lights and ice sculptures during the Winter Festival; cool down and taste freshly-plucked strawberries at the summer Strawberry festival; or enjoy a fine selection of craft beers and wines during CedarBrew.

Fans of nature will love Cedarburg’s proximity to over 30 miles of hiking and biking trails on the Ozaukee Interurban Trail. In fact, the Washington House Inn is located only one block from the trail. Other active adventures include kayaking on Cedar Creek during the summer months or cross-country skiing when the snow falls.

A Bed and Breakfast Brimming with Charm

The Washington House Inn has a total of 34 unique rooms, including 5 rooms that are located in the Schroeder Guest House that is just a few doors down from the main inn.

When you first step foot into the Washington House Inn, one of the first things you’ll notice are the rooms, which each have their own name! Each room is aptly named after an early settler of Cedarburg, such as the William Schroeder, the first postmaster, in room 205; the Frederich Hilgen, the founder of Cedarburg, in room 305; or even the Theodore Hartwig, Cedarburg’s first doctor who lived and practiced in the original Washington House, in room 102.

Perhaps one of the most requested rooms is Room 222, the Dr. Frederick A. Luening — and for good reason! This gorgeous Deluxe King Suite, referred to as the crown jewel of the Washington House Inn, is truly fit for a king. The suite has a split level design, with the bedroom on the first floor and a loft containing a wet bar and entertainment area on the second floor.

Climb up the wrought-iron spiral staircase in this Cedarburg WI bed and breakfast and enjoy teatime on the balcony, or enjoy a serene night’s sleeps. To truly relax after a busy day of wine tasting, shopping, and exploring Cedarburg, melt your stress away in the whirlpool spa tub while gazing at the crackling fireplace nearby.

Delicious and Authentic Cedarburg

The bed and breakfast is lovingly decorated with hints of Cedarburg charm: open your room with a vintage key that harkens back to the golden age of hotels; write in the guest book that’s brimming with heartfelt notes from past guests; and enjoy fresh baked goods in the main dining room whenever you please.

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the delicious cuisine of Wisconsin, starting with a hot homemade breakfast. There, you’ll find delicious home cooked goods made from local ingredients as well as seasonal fruits. Choose from a variety of Washington House Inn specials, like the Fresh Berry Trifle or the Wisconsin Cheddar Egg Strata. The Inn’s recipes are so memorable that guests often ask for the recipe of their favorite dishes. So much so that the bed and breakfast released its own cookbook that’s chock-full of their best recipes!

When it’s time to wind down after a busy day, take the opportunity to socialize with fellow guests and enjoy the complimentary wine and cheese social hour in the Washington House Inn’s Gathering Room every evening from 5pm to 6pm. There, a selection of local wines from the city’s Cedar Creek Winery and authentic Wisconsin cheeses await you.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, a relaxing retreat, or an activity-packed adventure weekend, the Washington House Inn is the perfect bed and breakfast for your trip to Cedarburg.
