History
In the 1850s, Lavender Inn started as a country farmhouse on Captain John Grigsby’s ranch, and it is among the oldest homes in the Napa Valley. In the 1860s, the Lavender Inn was moved to its present location.
It was expanded in 1905, when John Lee Webber, County Supervisor, made the house his family’s permanent residence. This beautiful building remained in the family until the death of Nancy Grigsby Webber in 1929. Eventually, the famous Webber House was run as a bed-and-breakfast inn.
Lavender Inn is iconic and bills itself as a luxurious French country inn. While you might not feel transported to Bordeaux or Provence, the rustic furnishings and dazzling palette of soft, rich yellows provide you with sufficiently Gallic echoes that you will certainly enjoy. After careful renovation, the Lavender Inn became part of the prestigious Four Sisters Inns collection in September 1999, which is comprised of the original Webber House and separate cottages on the grounds.
