Although the original building dates to 1783, a fire burned down the historic structure in 1910 and was rebuilt from the foundation up in 1913. In the 1950s, the building was transformed into the place to be seen for the ‘it crowd,’ including superstars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and even Walt Disney. There’s even a legend that Norman Rockwell painted a mural in the dining room, but you’ll have to come for yourself and ask the innkeeper to get the full story — we won’t spoil the secret!
