A truly rich history
The charming Victorian-style tavern holds a rich, historical past. It was built in 1825 and originally called the Williams Tavern. Throughout the years it was bought and sold, it was renowned as a family home in the early 1900’s, a bed and breakfast, and a lodge until it finally became Rookwood Inn in 1996. Since the inn was purchased by the current owner and innkeeper, Amy and her late husband Stephen, it has seen major renovations and refurnishing to transform it into the charming, English style bed & breakfast it is today.

With plenty on offer in all four seasons, the inn is a warm, peaceful retreat from your usual daily grind. Enjoy a fresh summer breeze with garden views from the screened porches and veranda. Or read a book on the bench in the Victorian pergola and flower beds. Get cozy in front of the fireplace in the winter time, sipping on a warm cup of tea while playing a board game.
Although the warm, inviting atmosphere of the inn may have you not wanting to leave during your stay, there are plenty of things to do in the nearby area.
Nature lovers can explore the Mass Audubon’s Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary which is a stunning green wildlife preserve featuring seven miles of hiking trails and a large pond. The local Bousquet Ski Resort is open each winter and offers skiing and snowboarding in a world-class resort! It’s located on the summit of Yokun Ridge in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and can be visited as a ski day-trip during the winter from the inn.
After you’re tired from exploring (or if you need a break from relaxing at the inn) then head to the charming streets of downtown Lenox which is an experience all on its own. Be sure to stop by Alta, a buzzing eatery and wine bar downtown that offers Mediterranean cuisine and outdoor dining.

Each day the main breakfast entrée alternates between a sweet and a savory dish. The innkeeper wants her guests to know that they “specialize in special diets” and are more than happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special needs.

The Rookwood Inn offers the perfect ambience and setting for weddings, elopements, and vow renewals. The inn can accommodate wedding parties for up to 35 guests who can be accommodated in the 20 guest rooms at the inn. The inn provides various packages for personalized elopements and wedding parties that include refreshments, seating, rehearsal dinners, and assistance with florists, photographers, wedding cakes and more.
