Blessings on State is located right in the heart of the historic district of Jacksonville. The first settlers began arriving in Morgan County around 1818 but it was not until 1823 that the county was formally organized. Jacksonville was laid out on a 40 acre tract in 1825 and was chosen as the Morgan County seat. Named for General Andrew Jackson, the city was incorporated in 1867. The Blessings on State building bursts with historic charm and impressively well-preserved architecture dating back to the late 1880’s, when the inn was first built. Nowadays the inn boasts a large wraparound porch with comfy sitting areas, blooming gardens, five tiled fireplaces, natural wood floors, elegant chandeliers, a grand piano, and two guest room suites.
