Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn
Innkeeper Erika from Abbey’s Lantern Inn in Ledyard, CT has successfully created a cozy, carefree and convenient getaway for every type of traveler in a prime location that tends to both millennials and baby boomers. This month we featured an interview with the innkeeper in our January Guest Newsletter to find out more about her and the B&B she operates. Looking for a sneak preview? We’ve included a few responses from the Q&A session for our blog readers to enjoy.
Q: What is the best compliment you’ve received from a guest?
A: Some of the best compliments I receive from guests are those that have said that this is “the best bed and breakfast they have ever stayed in.” One lady recently remarked, “This isn’t the fanciest bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in, but it’s definitely the best.” The other compliment, which I consider a great honor, are from those guests who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before – and after staying with us – say they will only stay in bed and breakfasts from now on and wish they had started going to bed and breakfasts sooner.
Q: Do you have an inspiring song that you frequently listen to? Or do you have a song that starts your day on a good note?
A: This sounds incredibly silly (and it is), but sometimes I need a little adrenaline pumping song to reinvigorate me. The Mystic, CT area has a highly competitive boutique lodging market with many properties owned by millionaires who have thrown tons of money and resources at their business. My goal is always to be the best property in my area, but sometimes I feel like a David among the Goliaths. So I might listen to something like Katy Perry’s “Roar” or Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.
Q: What has been your strangest guest request or experience as an innkeeper?
A: I haven’t had many (thankfully) and none come to mind at the moment.
