The Captain Swift Inn was built in 1810 and had been a bed and breakfast for over 200 years before innkeepers Rick and Carolyn Bentzinger took over. However, this Camden Bed and Breakfast has recently undergone major renovations making it feel brand new. New soft furnishings such as Turkish towels and high-quality Comphy brand linens will make your stay extra comfortable where their recent system and structural improvements will ensure your stay goes smoothly. The Bentzingers aren’t new to the innkeeping business, as many years ago they left their careers and operated a successful inn in Okemo, Vermont. Eventually they returned to the corporate world and raised their kids, but innkeeping beckoned once again, and they opened the Captain Swift Inn in February of 2019.
Rooms for Relaxing
The Inn’s 9 relaxing guest rooms and suites are all beautifully appointed to make your stay delightful. There’s en suite baths in each room with spa showers and massage body sprayers. Some of the rooms have their own private decks, most have fireplaces and all of the rooms have smart TVs with a premium channel line-up. Suites add oversized whirlpool tubs and separate showers as well as refreshment bars with stocked mini fridges, a Keurig and microwave with popcorn. In addition to your own personal space in your guest room, there’s also ample common areas for relaxing, including several sitting rooms complete with fireplaces, an outdoor patio with a fire pit and a stunning dining room which offers intimate candlelit tables for two guests or al fresco dining on the patio.
Each morning, you’ll be greeted with an indulgent, luxury 3-course candlelit breakfast. First, you’ll be served a European continental breakfast, followed by a fruit course and then you’ll finish off with the entree of the day. All of this will be accompanied by fresh brewed local coffee. In the cooler months, they always have hot mulled apple cider as well.
Dining at the inn doesn’t end at breakfast, in the evening, you can wind down with a drink from the full-service bar. The inn’s Bevs and Bites promotion means that if you order a drink from the bar, you’ll get a complimentary plate of local cheeses, chutney or hummus and grain crackers.
