Rochester Bed and Breakfast | Liberty Hill Farm & Inn

Liberty Hill Farm & Inn is the place to live out your agritourism dreams: this family-run farm is located less than one and a half hours’ drive from Burlington, VT and is the perfect Rochester bed and breakfast vacation for couples, families, and friends.

There are more than seven thousand farms across the state of Vermont that produce anything and everything from apples to honey, cheese, Christmas trees, maple syrup, dairy, and more. Get into the Vermont spirit and spend time on an authentic farm — we have just the place!

A Countryside Vermont Retreat

Nestled in the White River valley of the Green Mountains of Vermont, this Rochester-based bed and breakfast is situated in a beautiful 1825 Greek Revival-style building with panoramic views of the surrounding farmland. There are seven charming accommodations to choose from, including five rooms with queen-sized beds, one room with two single beds, and, for larger groups, a room with five single beds. In true farm fashion, there’s also a wide porch and rocking chairs for those lazy days spent curled up and reading a book.

A Working Farm and Incredible Breakfast

What truly makes Liberty Hill unique are the 270 cows that call the farm their home. The Robeth Holstein cows, which are named after Innkeepers’ Roberth and Beth’s first names, have been one of the leading milk producers in Vermont and are happy to welcome visitors to their home. Speaking of the Innkeepers… Both Bob and Beth’s families come from a long line of farmers — Beth’s ancestors started farming in the mid-1600’s! — and are happy to open their barn doors to visitors.

It wouldn’t be a bed and breakfast without the breakfast part, would it? With Beth’s home-style cooking and modern take on her grandmother’s recipes, it’s no surprise that Gourmet magazine devoted an entire article to Liberty Hill Farm’s food! Beth uses only the freshest ingredients in her dishes, from locally-produced creamery butter to aged Cheddar, sour cream, yogurt, and more. Start with a hearty bowl of baked oatmeal before digging into the fluffy pancakes, eggs, and homemade sausages. Don’t forget the hot-from-the-oven coffee cakes and muffins along with some freshly-brewed coffee!

There is Tons to Do!

After a busy day of exploring, come back home to try the chicken pot pie, carrot soufflé, and, of course, freshly-baked biscuits. Bob and Beth promise good wholesome food and hearty laughter ‘round the dining room table.

For the agriculturally-inclined, little farmers can try their hand at bottle-feeding baby calves or cuddle with the farm’s kittens, while adults can try milking cows, pick fresh veggies from the fields, or wander around the fields of wildflowers. Liberty Hill is great any time of the year: in the summer, go stargazing, mountain biking, or hiking around the endless trails nearby, or go on a cross-country skiing trip when the temperature dips.

Whether you want to experience life at a farm or just enjoy a quiet weekend getaway amidst friendly cows, acres of green scenery, and delicious farm-to-table food, Liberty Hill Farm truly hits the spot.
